The Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS) helps governments replicate successful food security practices on a national scale. The SPFS also encourages investment in rural infrastructure, off-farm income generation, urban agriculture and safety nets.
Since 1995, US$770 million from donors and national governments have been invested in FAO-designed food security programmes.
Food security exists when all people, at all times, have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
FAO REGIONAL WORKSHOPS ON RICE AND AQUACULTURE FOR PRODUCTIVITY INCREASE AND MARKET DEVELOPMENT IN EAST AND WEST AFRICA
This project was designed to utilize successful experiences of Japan’s technical cooperation developed in advanced developing countries for increasing agricultural production and productivity in Africa. Themes of the workshops are rice, aquaculture, market access and small-scale irrigation.
