Wali of Kassala visits FAO Representation in Khartoum

Khartoum – The Wali of Kassala along with the State Minister of Health, Commissioner of Kassala, community leaders and government officials visited FAO Representative in Sudan. The delegation  discussed issues related to impact of the drought in Kassala State especially scarcity of animal feeds, deterioration in the condition of grazing areas, water scarcity and needs for improved infrastructure for water control. They requested for technical support to develop capacity in especially addressing the impact of climatic change that is becoming very severe in most areas of the state. FAO Representative Babagana Ahmadu assured the delegation on the commitment of FAO support to the Wali of Kassala and people in every possible way.  “FAO is ready to support the state government in achieving their priorities on agriculture, livestock, and the broader food security aspects”, Babagana said.

The visit was a follow up to the FAOR’s visit to Kassala earlier in the month.
