This training manual provides methods in which trainers and promoters of cooperatives can support cooperative members and management in the development of their cooperative organisations. The approach taken in this manual is to firstly and importantly appraise local circumstances and what training needs may be required by cooperative members.  It is composed of eight modules: Module 1: Understanding cooperatives; Module 2: Participation training and learning; Module 3: Communication; Module 4: Organisational development; Module 5: Cooperative management; Module 6: Tools for planning and organizing cooperative activities; Module 7: Participatory appraisal, monitoring and evaluation; Module 8: Accounting. Each module is provided with exercises and references.
