Livestock Farmer Field Schools – Guidelines for Facilitation and Technical Manual

2006

This guide provides examples of FFS activities as well as basic livestock technical information to help new facilitators implement a livestock farmer field school (FFS). The guide should not be taken as a recipe book that provides all the answers. Instead, it should be viewed as reference material that will help facilitators and farming communities create the FFS activities most appropriate to their needs. It is designed to be a living tool that allows facilitators to add or remove information and it has space for FFS practitioners to enhance it and incorporate their own experiences. The guide comprises three distinct sections: Part 1: Farmer Field School Methodology – Principles and Concepts; Part 2: Field Guidelines for Facilitating Livestock FFS Activities; Part 3: Animal Health and Production – Dairy Technical Manual.
