Rural Skills Training - A Generic Manual on Training for Rural Economic Empowerment (TREE)

2009

The Training for Rural Economic Empowerment (TREE) consists of a set of processes, which are distinct but coherently linked, to guide the articulation of local development initiatives and the identification and implementation of income generation opportunities. Starting with institutional arrangements and planning among partner organizations at the national and local levels, these processes aim to systematically identify employment and income-generating opportunities at the community/local level; design and deliver appropriate training programmes; and provide the necessary post-training support, for example, access to markets. The training manual is divided  into eight volumes (modules): Vol1: Introduction to the TREE methodology; Vol2: Institutional organization and planning; Vol3: Identification of economic opportunities and training needs assessment; Vol4: Training design, organization and delivery; Vol5: Post-training support for micro-enterprise development and wage employment; Vol6: Monitoring, evaluation  and documentation; Vol7: Gender awareness and advocacy; Vol8: Including people with disabilities in the TREE programme.
