Examples of Civil Society Organizations working in partnership with FAO
International Food First Information and Action Network - FIAN

FAO works with FIAN on major food security issues which affect the world's poor. FIAN has been at the forefront of developing the right to food approach, culminating in the adoption of the Voluntary Guidelines for the Right of Food at the FAO Committee on World Food Security in 2004.

Pesticide Action Network Asia-Pacific - PANAP

PANAP has contributed to the development of Integrated Pest Management approaches popularized through the Farmer Field Schools (link). In response to the 2004 Tsunami disaster, PANAP has facilitated the creation of a regional working group of national CSOs active at the local level throughout the region. This group is currently collaborating with FAO and other agencies to meet the immediate needs of the most affected communities and in the planning and reconstruction phases in the agriculture and fisheries sector. The network is a member of the "PAN-RC: Pesticide Action Network - Regional Centres", which has Liaison Status with FAO.

Via Campesina

Via Campesina is an international movement of peasant organizations of small and middle-scale producers, agricultural workers, rural women, and indigenous communities. The organization contributes to the work of FAO Governing bodies at the global and regional levels and is also a founding member of the International Planning Committee for Food Sovereignty network.
