Agricultural Policy Support Service (TCAS)

This Service: (i) assists FAO Members in strengthening their capacity for the formulation and implementation of food, agriculture, fishery, forestry and rural development policies; (ii) acts as an interface between normative policy work of FAO departments and policy assistance provide to member countries through the Agriculture Policy Division's branches and units; (iii) provides information on country policy and performance in specific regions to draw syntheses of lessons on policy matters of a global and international character.

Policy Coordinating Service (TCAR)

The Service ensures close contact and collaboration with member countries, in order to define FAO's country assistance and field programme requirements, and assists in the overall coordination of the work of the Policy Assistance Branches and Units. It seeks to achieve a corporate country and regional focus, based on which the needs of Member Nations can best be matched with FAO's capacities and priorities.

Field Programme Development Service (TCAP)

The mission of the Field Programme Development Service (TCAP) is to support the development of FAO's field and normative activities through resource mobilization, by delivering: (i) donor liaison and programming services, (ii) information services on extrabudgetary activities and donor policies, (iii) advisory support to resource mobilization activities by decentralized offices at regional and country level.
Area of competence includes all funding from donor government agencies, multilateral agencies and Unilateral Trust Fund donors, except emergency and rehabilitation activities and funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Policy Assistance Units and Branches in the Field

The Policy Assistance Units and Branches (PAUs and PABs) carry out regular and field programme activities and assist Member Nations, regional and subregional economic groupings in the region in reviewing sector policy options, formulating policies and strengthening national capacities to perform policy analysis, design and implementation. They provide technical guidance and backstopping to agricultural policy analysis and planning projects.
