| | | | | | | | | The Agricultural Growth Project (AGP) The AGP in Ethiopia, supported by the WB, provides a basis for strengthened agricultural growth in Ethiopia. The project will contribute to reach the high-level goal of sustainable food security by developing the untapped potential of well-endowed areas. The AGP has the objective to increase agricultural productivity and market access for key crops and livestock products. The project was analyzed in 4 regions disposing of good potential for agricultural growth: Amhara; Oromiya; Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region – SNNPR; and Tigray. It focuses more precisely on areas that are relatively rain and food-secure. These areas also hold considerable potential for agricultural growth. The primary beneficiaries of the AGP are the small and medium-scale farmers (2 million estimated agricultural households) who crop on an average area of less than 1 hectare. The AGP will be implemented over a period of five years and is structured among three components for an estimated total cost of US$ 281.2 million: - Agricultural Production and Commercialization - Small-scale Rural Infrastructure Development and Management - Program Management and Monitoring and Evaluation The carbon appraisal takes into account the activities undertaken under the first two components which should directly impact upon climate change mitigation.
