Areas of Interest

These initiatives managed by the Traditional Programme intend to establish a connection between issues such as environmental degradation and sustainable development, as part of the goal to promote food security. Moreover, projects are designed and implemented to promote responsible management and conservation of natural resources and break the vicious circle that links extreme poverty and environmental degradation in most of vulnerable countries.

The programme’s strategic plan includes:

  • The implementation of development, economic and social initiatives, aimed at increasing the activities of the Organization in the field of exchange of knowledge and acquisition of competencies;
  • Response to governments' needs to increase their ability in creating appropriate policies to sustain agricultural and economic development;
  • The production of data, information and statistics on the state of food, agriculture, food insecurity and trade.
