Creating a conducive policy environment for investment

Investment decisions are ultimately made by individuals, institutions and corporations according to their own interests, but these interests are influenced by policies which govern the relative costs and benefits of investing in particular areas. In other words, appropriate policies are fundamental in encouraging investment in areas of national interest.

Using in-depth case studies on the countries which have been most and least successful in mobilising investment and increasing their capital formation in agriculture, we are developing a compendium of best policies for creating the most conducive environment for promoting investment in agriculture. We are also developing a database of investment in agriculture, which includes data on agricultural capital stock (ACS), Foreign Investment (FDI), External Assistance to agriculture (EAA), as well as documents that clearly define investment and capital formation in and for agriculture.
