Policy Support for Agricultural Investment and Food Security
 

As the Policy Assistance Support Service of FAO, our specific aim is to define a policy framework that helps countries enhance investment in and for agriculture, to increase agricultural production and productivity toward achieving food security.

Creating a policy framework for investment

To reach our goal of a policy framework able to foster agricultural investment, we work on a variety of fronts including research, data collection, analytical work and consultation. The following sections provide an overview of our considerations:

How we are funded

Our work is supported by regular FAO programme resources, and by the Japanese Trust Fund Project Support to Study on Appropriate Policy Measures to Increase Investments in Agriculture and to Stimulate Food Production

FAO data sources relevant to investment policy

We are developing a database of investment in agriculture, which includes data on agricultural capital stock (ACS), foreign investment (FDI), external assistance to agriculture (EAA) and country profiles for foreign agricultural investment.
