Summary: The FAO initiative on food and agriculture policy decision analysis (FAPDA) is based on the process of collecting, registering, classifying and finally analyzing national policy decisions. This initiative was launched in 2008 to provide technical advice to FAO member countries and further extended to a systematic policy monitoring encompassing the different dimensions of food security and nutrition.
Aim: Capacity development of the country in policy monitoring, analysis of coherent policies for agriculture, food and nutrition security as well as enhancing the exchange of policy information and analyses to better coordinate and inform agriculture, food and nutrition security decision making.
Main Output: Strengthened capacity of government and national institutions for a harmonized policy monitoring, promotion of effective policies, and enhanced policy dialogue at national and regional level.
Who is involved: FAPDA is an FAO interdepartmental activity: Policy Assistance Support Service, Integrated Food Security Support Service, Agricultural Development Economics Division and Global Information and Early Warning System on Food and Agriculture (Giews) and decentralized offices (regional and subregional). At the country level: concerned ministries and policy and research institutions, regional organizations.
