IMPACT event – Turning knowledge into action

A new publication produced by FAO illustrating the Organization’s results and impact around the world will be launched at a Council side event on 12 June at 13.00 hours, IRAN room. Ann Tutwiler, DDG-K and Manoj Juneja, DDG-O will introduce IMPACT, a folder filled with information about FAO’s focus areas and related success stories. The folder illustrates the work and impact of FAO and its role in connecting the field to national, regional and global initiatives.

The IMPACT folder contains a set of fact sheets and related stories that highlight the comparative advantages and successes of FAO. The fact sheets introduce seven focus areas where FAO has a comparative advantage in terms of its ability to create and apply global public goods, develop capacity and provide policy assistance. The seven focus areas include Preventing Global Food Crises; Transboundary Threats to Production, Health and Environment; Sustainable Forest Management; Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries; Scarcity of Water and Land Resources, Capacity Development for Information and Statistics; Global Standard Setting and Implementation into National Policies and Legislation.

This packet is also foreseen to be an important element in FAO’s resource mobilization efforts. The seven focus areas highlighted in the fact sheets have been chosen by the members because they are areas that will greatly benefit from additional resources and support from our partners.

Videos on success stories from Mongolia and Bangladesh will be showcased as well as FAO’s Emergency Prevention System (EMPRES) – for Animal Health, Plant Protection and Food Safety.

Streaming will be available online: http://intranet.fao.org/stream
