Workshop on Negotiation: Project on the Protection of Georgian Wine Appellations
In 2005, an FAO/EBRD Project was launched to improve the protection of Georgian Wine Appellations. In this context an action plan was prepared with all stakeholders and approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and the EBRD. The action plan is now ready to be implemented.
The first activity of the action plan is the training workshop on negotiation skills.
The initial motivation for focusing on negotiation capacities was related to potential commercial negotiations between Georgia and third countries (Ukraine, Russia, EU, etc). However, as the project developed new concerns had to be taken into consideration. For example the recent Russian ban on imports of Georgian wine, which has exacerbated tensions between the two countries, has made the workshop even more relevant.
