TRANSFERRING SKILLS
The Investment Centre also delivers short capacity building courses when appropriate. The Investment Centre works with FAO technical departments in this activity.
In-country experience
A large part of the Investment Centre's work is carried out in-country, with staff spending, on average, 90 days each year in developing countries. This enables staff to understand at first hand the complexities and constraints facing developing countries and to recognize the opportunities that exist as well as the aspirations of small farmers.
The Investment Centre works side-by-side with local staff in small villages and on farms, diagnosing problems and exploring solutions with the farmers themselves.

The Investment Centre's way of working is increasingly geared towards collaborating with teams of national government staff from ministries of agriculture and rural development, as well as with local consultants.
