It is comprised of some 80 professional staff with high levels of technical skill who deliver projects that tackle complex issues on time and on budget.

Staff members include agronomists, economists, and irrigation and drainage engineers, together with professionals trained in rural sociology, the environment, rural finance, agribusiness, marketing, forestry and livestock.

Global reach

Teams and services are grouped by geographical area:

  • Europe, Near East, North Africa and Central Asia
  • Asia and the Pacific
  • West and Central Africa
  • Southern and Eastern Africa
  • Latin America and the Caribbean
In addition, the Investment Centre annually engages more than 400 specialized consultants to complement its mission teams.

A credit scheme is explained to villagers in Bangladesh. The Investment Centre’s rural credit specialists and agricultural economists help design projects to improve the supply of rural credit, and work regularly on this issue with FAO’s Rural Finance Group.
