FAO programmes have two main funding sources: (i) assessed contributions funded by FAO Member Nations) and (ii) voluntary contributions received from multilateral and bilateral resource partners, including IFIs, other UN system Organizations, Funds and Programmes. FAO, in 2010, implemented about 2670 projects (including 229 TeleFood projects) with a total value of US$ 903 million. About four percent of these are funded by assessed contributions through the FAO Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) and the Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS). The remaining 96 percent of projects are funded from voluntary contributions, through the Government Cooperative Programme (44 per cent), Unilateral Trust Fund (UTF) (six percent), other forms of Trust Funds (46 percent), that include UN Joint Programmes.
