It entails the provision of assistance to Members in assessing nutritional status, providing technical assistance towards the overall goal of food security, availability of food supplies, stability of supplies and access to the food needed for a healthy and productive life; the provision of policy and technical advice on nutrition, food and agricultural matters

RNE regular program of work is carried out by different departments, The Agriculture department, Sustainable Development, Policy Assistance, Economics, Fisheries, and Forestry Departments.

PRIORITY AREAS FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY ACTION (PAIA'S)

Background: The FAO Medium Term Plan 2002-2007 gave due emphasis to needed cooperation across departments. In response to the call in the FAO Strategic Framework for enhanced multi-disciplinary approaches, several Priority Areas for Inter-disciplinary Action (PAIAs) were singled out by FAO, some of which are implemented by the RNE office, and are recalled under the corporate strategies on which they are largely based.
