Gender and Tenure

The livelihoods of many, particularly the rural poor including women, are based on secure and equitable access to and control over land and other natural resources. However, in all regions of the world, among women who on average comprise 43 percent of the agricultural labour force in developing countries, there are significantly fewer female landholders. The following resources look in depth at gender equality in access to land and other natural resources in different countries and cultural settings. The resources give an overview of policies related to female land rights and how these rights affect their livelihoods and futures.
