Knowledge Networks

FAO's Thematic knowledge networks are virtual communities of professional staff and collaborating centres with common interests and objectives related to sustainable agriculture and food security built around twelve priority areas.

These networks aim to:

  • Strengthen links between communities of practitioners;
  • Allow individuals to gather and gain access to policy and technical information;
  • Facilitate sharing and exchange of complementary knowledge and resources;
  • Organize and create knowledge in ways that are flexible.

FAO has an additional specific objective to provide more direct access to the Organization’s knowledge on sustainable agriculture, forestry and fisheries development.

This website lists several thematic knowledge networks facilitated by FAO and based on the following characteristics. The list will be updated as the networks developing and we evolve in our ability to manage knowledge about sustainable agriculture.
