The links on this page provide detailed agroclimatic maps for the countries affected by the Tsunami, as well as detailed rainfed crop calendar information for the stations in the coastal areas. Crop calendars list information about the number of growing seasons, the planting and harvesting dates, as well as the climatic conditions prevailing during the season. Naturally, the listed values correspond to averages, and the actual dates of farming operations may vary from year to year due to climate, but also to the farmers own traditions, in particular whether the crops are rainfed or irrigated. Although most stations belong to the same general area, crop calendars may vary significantly from place to place.
Users with specific requests for climate-related information are welcome to send a request to agromet@fao.org or environment@fao.org Click on a highlighted country in the map or on the country name at the bottom of the map to access climatic and crop calendar information for that country |
