October 5: 0 to 10 Feeding – Nutrition and malnutrition from conception to ten years of life - Conference organized by the UNICEF Italian Committee in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies. Three fundamental moments in children's life between 0 to 10 years old will be discussed: pregnancy and breastfeeding; weaning towards a healthy and adequate nutrition; adequate styles of life. Panelists will focues their discussion both on national and international experiences. A group of children who participated in a UNICEF project in their schools will illustrate the results of their activities. Giacomo de' Besi from the UN-Expo Team will present the UN system's participation at Expo 2015, the UN Itinerary and the UN theme "The Zero Hunger Challenge. United for a sustainable world. October 4 - 6: Le rôle du développement rural et regional au sud et au nord de la Méditerranée et la nouvelle politique européenne de voisinage – Congress organized by the Fondation Dialogue Sud-Nord Méditerranée with the support of FAO for the sessions focusing on Mediterranean Rural Communities. October 7: The International workshop “Integrated Small scale garden systems for improved food security in urban environments” is organized on initiative of the Municipality of Milan, the City of Dakar, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FAO and ACRA in collaboration with partners of the Project “Microjardins Milan-Dakar”. The Workshop will allow reviewing different small scale garden systems, including Microgardens technologies in the urban environment. It will offer the opportunity to bring together different leading experts and institutions who have worked on the topic in order to exchange knowledge and practices through a series of presentations followed by a field trip to the first Training Center on Microgardening in Milan. Mr Wilfried Baudoin, FAO, will present the FAO Programme of UPH and Growing Greener Cities, while Paola Castelgrande, FAO will present Cases of urban agriculture support planning: the Programme of the Municipality of Dakar and Regional Expansion together with N. October 7- 8: Five keys to safer food - The theme for 2015 of the World Health Organization's (WHO) flagship campaign, World Health Day, is food safety: "How safe is your food? From farm to plate - make food safe". In this context, the Swiss Pavillon at EXPO 2015 Milan is organizing a series of workshops with WHO, during which participants will make their own block of chocolate and learn about how to handle food safely. At the end of each workshop, a short film will be screened and there will be a quiz about the five keys to safer food with prizes for winners. Chocolate workshop sessions will start at 11h00 13h00, 15h00 and 17h00 on Wednesday 7 October and Thursday 8 October.

October 9: Monitoring agriculture for market management and food security - Conference organized by te University of Bologna and the Joint research Centre of the European Comission at the EU Pavilion, from 11 am to 7 pm. Paul Racionzer, Team Leader, GIEWS Database and Information Tools Team, Global Information and Early Warning System, of the FAO Trade and Markets Division, will participate. More info available here.
10 October: Le idee di Expo 2015 - Roundtables organized by the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and Expo 2015 for a conclusive discussion on the Charter of Milan before handing it over to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on World Food Day. The roundtable on “The Zero Hunger Challenge” is coordinated by the FAO Directeur de Cabinet, Mario Lubetkin, while the table “Food Sovereignty” is coordinated by the UN-Expo Commissioner-General, Fernanda Guerrieri. Specialists from the UN Rome-based Agencies and Bioversity Internationa will provide input to discussions at both tables.
