September 22-23: World Food research and innovation Forum - An initiative of the region of Emilia-Romagna, with the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry; the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Italian Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015. The forum will be held at the Italian Pavilion and aims to establish an international platform in Emilia-Romagna, working to address a strategy for sustainability, security and safety of the food industry in the global market, at Italian and European level. The forum is described by the organizer as a space for new and diverse perspectives where stakeholders, in research, economy, policy and finance, have the opportunity to share ideas and outline scenarios in technology research and sustainable development.
On September 22, several UN senior representatives will participate in the Forum: Diana Battaggia, Head of Investment and Technology Promotion Office, UNIDO Italy, and Ann Tutwiler, Director General, Bioversity International, will take part in the Round table “Research and Technologies for a sustainable food security and safety in developing/emerging countries” at 12.05 pm.
At 3.40 pm Mr Ren Wang, Assistant Director-General, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department, FAO, will give a keynote speech on ”Current world state in food safety and food security – a Call for action”.
At 4.20 pm Kazuaki Miyagishima, Director of the Department of Food Safety and Zoonoses, WHO, will participate in the roundtable on “Promoting food safety and security globally through enhanced multisectoral collaboration”.

September 25: “Making healthy and sustainable food choices the easy option for consumers” – Conference organized by the European Consumer Organization (BEUC) and the Italian consumers association Altroconsumo,
The conference, which is open to the public, will be structured around three panel debates followed by Q&A sessions. Academics, policy makers, industry and civil society experts will discuss how to encourage healthy and sustainable food production and consumption and how to help consumers make informed food choices.
Mr Roberto Bertollini - Chief Scientist and WHO Representative to the EU, and Leslie Amoroso of the FAO Nutrition division will be among the panellists.

September 25: In the context of the week of Sao Tome' and Principe (21-27 September), the EXPO Commission for this country, jointly with IFAD, ICEA and Alisei are organizing one day full of events to present the work that the local Government, with the support of IFAD, has done over time to develop the country's agricultural sector and the eco-tourism industry. Participants will have also the chance to taste the coffee and the chocolate produced with raw materials sourced from IFAD-supported co-operatives of this tiny, though fascinating country! The events will all take place at the EXPO Conference Centre.
September 27: “Coffee chains in Central America and the Caribbean” is organized by the Italian Cooperation in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The morning session from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm will be held in the Cascina Triulza while the afternoon session from 3 to 7 pm will be held in the Coffee Cluster. Diana Battaggia, Head of Investment and Technology Promotion Office, UNIDO Italy and Gerardo Patacconi, Chief of UNIDO's Clusters and Business Linkages Unit, will participate.
