October 1: Realizing the Right to Food: Legal Strategies and Approaches, event jointly organized by the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and the Milan Center for Food Law and Policy. It will be held at the Pavilion of Angola at Expo Milano 2015 on October 1, from 3 to 5 pm. The UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food Ms Hilal Elver will participate, along with Ms Luisa Cruz, legal officer of the FAO Legal and Ethics Office. More info available here.
October 1: Towards a sustainable Expo – A legacy for sustainability, will take place at the Expo plaza at the Expo Media Center at 11.30 am. The event is organized by Expo and the Italian Ministry of Environment. The Minister of environment, Mr Gian Luca Galletti, will be present, as will Mr Giuseppe Sala, CEO of Expo Milano 2015 and Mr Jan Dusik, Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for Europe. October 3-6: Terra Madre Giovani: We Feed The Planet – event organized by Slow Food and the Slow Food Youth Network, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies; Fondazione Cariplo and Compagnia di San Paolo, from 3 to 5 of October in the centre of Milan and on the 6th at Expo Milano 2015.
This global event combines good food, dancing and drinks with contextual knowledge, inspiration and education and brings together a unique group of young farmers, food producers and food professionals from all over the world. The four-day program, based on the model of the Slow Food Youth Network Food Academy, will allow the group to connect, be inspired, create solutions and finally share their ideas about feeding the planet in the future on a world Stage at Expo
On 3 October, there will be a public event at Mercato Metropolitano, close to the Navigli Grande in Milan. Take this opportunity to meet all the participants and the people of Milan in an evening full of music, drinks, inspiring exchanges and the most international Disco Soup ever imagined.
The final day of Terra Madre Giovani - We Feed the Planet will be celebrated at Expo itself. During the Closing Conference, the lessons learned during the previous days will be shared with the rest of the world at the Universal Exposition. Following the conference, participants will march to the Slow Food Pavilion and the official closing ceremony of the event.
UN participation is foreseen, including several participants from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
