MEMBERSHIP OF THE WFP EXECUTIVE BOARD |
1. In accordance with Resolution 9/95 adopted by the 28th Session of the FAO Conference on 31 October 1995, whereby the Committee on Food Aid Policies and Programmes was reconstituted as the Executive Board of the World Food Programme, the Council is required to elect six members of the WFP Executive Board for a term of office of three years from among FAO Member Nations.
2. For purposes of election to the Board, FAO Member Nations are divided into five separate lists (A, B, C, D and E) as shown in Appendix A to this document.
3. The present composition of the WFP Executive Board is as follows, with the List (as per Appendix A) to which each member belongs indicated in brackets:

4. The Council will therefore be required to elect six members, for a term of office expiring on 31 December 2001 to replace the ones whose terms end on 31 December 1998, i.e. Algeria (A); Canada (D); China (B); Cuba (C); Germany (D); Nigeria (A).
5. Outgoing members are eligible for re-election.
6. A nomination form is given in Appendix B to this document, and the deadline for submission of nominations to the Secretary General of the Council is 12.00 hours on Wednesday 25 November 1998.

** To be replaced by the United Kingdom effective 1 January 1999.
