Purpose
  • To draft provisions on labelling applicable to all foods;
  • to consider, amend if necessary, and endorse specific provisions on labelling proposed by the Codex Commodity Committees drafting commodity standards, in the codes of practices and in the guidelines;
  • to study specific labelling problems assigned by the Commission; and
  • to study problems in food advertisement, especially those dealing with claims and misleading descriptions.
