Origin

JMPR is the Joint Meeting of the FAO Panel of Experts on Pesticide Residues in Food and the Environment and the WHO Toxicological Core Assessment Group on Pesticide Residues. JMPR was originally established in 1963 as a Working Party of Experts on Pesticide Residues.

Purpose

The functions of the JMPR are to evaluate the safety of pesticide residues in food and feed; to estimate maximum residue levels for the establishment of Codex MRLs; to provide scientific advice on specific issues of pesticide residues for FAO and WHO member countries, governing bodies, Codex Alimentarius Commission and Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR).

Membership

The FAO Panel of Experts on Pesticide Residues is composed up of eight Panel Members, the WHO Toxicological Core Assessment Group on Pesticide Residues consists of eight members and the Panels are assisted by Temporary Advisors and Consultants.
