DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Director, ESW and as member of one or more task teams, will: - lead the development and analysis of sex-disaggregated agriculture and rural development data bases, especially in the context of WCA, FAOSTAT and the CountrySTAT Project as appropriate;
- provide technical guidance and support to Member Countries in Gender and Agricultural Statistics, especially within the framework of the World Programme for the Agricultural Census (WCA);
- develop, test and utilize methodological guidelines and tools in the production and analysis of sex-disaggregated data;
- liaise with other FAO technical units to enhance their capacity to address gender dimensions in their work;
- contribute to the incorporation of Rural Gender Equality issues, especially in the area of sex-disaggregated data, into FAO planning frameworks and UN policies and joint programmes for food security, agriculture and rural development;
- develop training programmes on gender analysis;
- develop fund raising strategies for gender related projects;
- perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
|
- Advanced university degree in Rural Sociology, Social Anthropology or Social Statistics, including specialisations in Gender and Rural Development, quantitative social analysis and social (esp. gender) statistics
- Seven years of relevant experience, including field experience, in research and policy analysis related to gender and rural development, including the collection, analysis and use of sex-disaggregated socio-economic data in the context of agriculture, livelihoods and food security
- Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:

- Extent of research and analytical experience using quantitative methods of applied social research related to gender, agriculture and rural development
- Extent of experience in the development and management of sex-disaggregated data bases
- Extent and relevance of experience with gender analysis (especially gender statistics) training programmes, including programme design and facilitation
- Quality of both written and oral communication skills
- Relevance and quality of publications record
- Demonstrated ability to work well as a team leader and member
- Demonstrated results-based management capabilities with ability to manage programmes and projects efficiently under shifting priorities and to deliver against deadlines
- Relevance and level of academic qualifications

* The length of appointment for internal FAO candidates will be established in accordance with applicable policies pertaining to the extension of appointments.

Level P-4
carries a net salary per year (inclusive of a variable element for post adjustment) from US$ 111,299
US$ 136,372
(without dependants) and from US$ 119,520
to US$ 147,289
(with dependants)
