DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall technical supervision of the Chief, AGSF, Lead Technical Unit (LTU) and the operational guidance of he FAO Representative in Tanzania, will be responsible for the general supervision and management of project activities. In particular will :- Be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of project activities, providing technical guidance on all aspects of project planning and implementation.
- Provide technical guidance on matters relating to the enabling environment for agribusiness, public-private collaboration, business services, agro-processing amongst others.
- Prepare, in collaboration with the LTU, the framework and operational guidelines including procedures and modalities for implementation.
- Prepare annual work plans for agreement by the Government of Tanzania and supervise their implementation.
- Participate in the design and implementation of training and support service activities at national and district levels.
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of activities under the responsibility of contracted NGOs and other service providers.
- Liaise with the Government (national and local) and support service providers and supervise capacity-building service providers.
- Identify short term consultants and technical areas of backstopping requirements, develop Terms of Reference and advise on their selection and timing.
- Coordinate the provision of advice/assistance by the technical units of FAO.
- Prepare proposals for contractual services in accordance with FAO procedures and make arrangements for implementation.
- Prepare project technical papers for publication and dissemination.
- Ensure that all formal reporting requirements are met.
- Prepare budget revisions as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
|
- Advanced University Degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or a related subject
- Seven years of relevant experience relating to enterprise, value chain, farm management, agribusiness or agro-industries development in developing region
- Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
|
- Extent of experience in enterprise, value chain, farm management, agribusiness or agro-industries development in developing regions.
- Depth of understanding of agribusiness development with specific reference to agricultural production, post-harvest technology, food processing, packaging, trade, marketing, marketing structures and distribution channels.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement field projects in developing countries
- Extent of understanding of project management
- Quality of both oral and written communication skills.
