DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Manager, National Forest Programme Facility, and the direct guidance of the Senior Operations Officer, the incumbent will act as focal point for the Growing Forest Partnership (GFP) initiative to ensure efficient and effective use of GFP resources. In particular, will:- disseminate GFP activities, values and principles and the coordination with other related activities;
- assist in the preparation of reports in line with the GFP requirements;
- in cooperation with Facility and relevant staff, building upon existing NFP processes, facilitate the development of National Forest Financing Strategies (NFFS) in partner countries;
- assist countries in diagnosing the strengths and weaknesses of existing financing mechanisms for the forest sector;
- organize training workshops at national and regional level on forest financing and assist in the follow-up process and support;
- participate in the development of new financing mechanisms and the improvement of existing ones through the promotion of knowledge sharing between the forest and finance sectors in partner countries;
- draft components for briefs, documents, websites, etc., for the dissemination of knowledge and experiences gained in the development of NFFS in partner countries;
- in close collaboration with counterparts in partner countries, improve the linkages between national experiences on NFFS and the international and global level dialogue on financing;
- assist in preparing the Facility’s contributions to the International level dialogue of forest financing;
- perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
|
- University Degree in Forestry, Forest Economics, or related fields
- Three years of relevant experience in international forestry development which included issues of forest finance and the development of financing strategies for the forest sector
- Working knowledge of two of the following languages: English, French or Spanish
|
SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
|
- Extent of experience in international forestry development which included forest financing
- Relevance of experience in the development of financing strategies for the forest sector
- Extent of experience with UN, intergovernmental, international organizations related to forestry
- Demonstrated networking skills with different types of forestry stakeholders (government and non-government)
- Demonstrated ability to organize and conduct workshops
- Quality of both oral and written presentation and communication skills on technical issues
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take initiative and operate as a team player
