DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Reviser (Russian) and in close collaboration with the Terminology and Reference Officer, will be responsible for Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) processes including pre-translation and insertion of any existing material, references and terminology, finalization and archiving of documents. In particular, will:- review incoming texts for translation and coordinate their workflow within the Group’s work phases, liaise with staff in the Programming, Reference and Terminology Group and prepare reference and pre-translated material for external translators;
- establish modalities for the processing of documents using CAT software, including alignment of text, pre-translation and insertion of existing materials and references;
- translate into Russian a wide range of material including meeting and administrative documents, and official correspondence from English and French or Spanish;
- contribute to linguistic research in consultation with staff of the Service and relevant divisions to solve technical terminology problems;
- contribute to the further development of FAOTERM in Russian in liaison with the Programming, Reference and Terminology Group staff;
- ensure assistance to the Russian translation group for the implementation and use of computer applications, databases and translation memories and other translation tools;
- perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
|
- University Degree in one of the following: Linguistics, Translation or Management/Business Administration with additional studies on translation
- Three years of relevant experience in the production of multilingual documents which included experience in terminology, reference or computer-assisted translation work
- Excellent knowledge of Russian and professional working knowledge of English and French or Spanish

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
|
- Relevance of experience in translation and translation workflow functions
- Depth of knowledge of modern translation methods, including application of computer techniques to linguistics, database management and modern communication tools
- Extent of experience in document production for complex, multilingual products
- Relevance of experience in the use of Internet tools for linguistic searches and processing of documents in mark-up languages such as HTML and XML
- Extent of experience in planning and monitoring translation workflow processes, including liaison with and support to external consultants and service providers
