DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall guidance of Director, Environment, Climate Change and Bioenergy Division, and the direct supervision of the Senior Officers of Bioenery, Climate Change and Natural Resources will:

  • gather and organize FAO relevant information related to climate change and bioenergy and ensure proper dissemination – at global, regional and national levels – of relevant public information products, including publication on relevant FAO web sites;
  • organize, design, edit, maintain and improve multi-language Web pages related to climate change and bioenergy;
  • act as main communication resource person on behalf of FAO with the UN-REDD programme;
  • participate in the preparation, editing, producing and/or distribution of FAO information products related to climate change and bioenergy;
  • assist in the production of media-style public information products – media speaking/talking points, press releases, newsletter, media briefs;
  • liaise with appropriate units in house for media interaction activities such as press conferences, interviews, and similar;
  • research, arrange and conduct interviews with FAO experts on FAO supported project interventions for the development of information material;
  • facilitate external media productions such as professional photo and video coverage;
  • coordinate the response to inquiries on climate change and bioenergy and assist in formulating FAO response related to these topics;
  • establish and maintain mailing lists for electronic and printed distribution of information;
  • assist with documentation elaboration management including arranging for translation, formatting and proofreading;
  • perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:

  • University degree on information management, communication and web-designer or a related field
  • Three years of relevant experience on web-design, information management and documentation
  • Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:

  • Depth of knowledge of information management concepts and practices, including web-based applications
  • Quality of both oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to deliver results within deadlines
  • Extent of linguistic skills in the official languages of FAO: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish

Please note that all candidates should possess computer/word processing skills and should be capable of working with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
* The length of appointment for internal FAO candidates will be established in accordance with applicable policies pertaining to the extension of appointments.
