DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Chief, AFSI the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the Technical Installation/Energy Management Unit. In particular will:- coordinate and supervise the execution of maintenance works and services performed by AFSI staff or external contractors at Headquarters buildings;
- coordinate and supervise the maintenance and running of FAO installations, including the investigation of problems and discussions with appropriate specialized contractors, ensuring that urgent repair works are performed promptly;
- coordinate, monitor and plan the work of assistants and technicians;
- prepare tender specifications and diagrams for the supply of technical equipment and for the maintenance and installation of all types of technical systems (i.e. heating, air-conditioning, plumbing, electrical installations, fire detection and alarm systems, building automation systems, security systems, etc.). Evaluate technically and economically the results of tenders and offers;
- certify the quality and quantity of materials and services received;
- certify the payment of related contractual invoices;
- represent the Organization for contacts with Italian Authorities, for the installation of technical systems as well as the implementation of related Safety norms;
- develop systems and procedures allowing proper monitoring of technical/economical/quality performance of contractors;
- develop methods for preventive maintenance through routine inspections and systematic tests of installations;
- research and study the application of new technologies, select new equipment and materials and develop actions with the contractors in order to achieve cost and efficiency savings;
- control energy consumption and promote actions aimed at achieving energy savings and reducing environmental pollution;
- participate to the preparation of the biennial spending programme;
- represent the Service in inter-divisional meetings and committees;
- perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
|
- University Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education from a recognized professional Institute of Engineers.
- Seven years of relevant experience as an engineer, with particular experience in maintenance and upkeep of large electrical and mechanical installations in office buildings
- Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of Italian.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:

- Extent of relevant experience in maintenance and upkeep of large electrical installations
- Knowledge of European and/or International Technical and Safety laws and codes
- Demonstrated initiative, high sense of responsibility and ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others
- Leadership and ability to solve problems quickly and tactfully
- Ability to review and evaluate proposals and formulate recommendations
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

REMUNERATION
|
Level P-4
carries a net salary per year (inclusive of a variable element for post adjustment) from US$ 102,782
US$ 125,936
(without dependants) and from US$ 110,374
to US$ 136,018
(with dependants)
