DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the GFCM Executive Secretary and the direct supervision of the Deputy Executive Secretary, the incumbent will provide support in data processing, data management and data quality control. In particular, will:- Monitor on a regular basis the functioning and updating of the GFCM website;
- Provide technical assistance in the development and management of the GFCM regional databases, information systems and data submission tools;
- Assist in data management and quality control for consistency and coherence with regional and international standards and for maintaining the regional codification system and the data dictionary;
- Contribute to the dissemination and maintenance of the electronic glossary and Compendium of GFCM decisions for easy user consultation through the website;
- Assist in the compilation of datasets and the generation of information and statistical reports to be used by the Commission, its subsidiary bodies, its Members and other users;
- Assist in the production of documentation related to the GFCM databases and information systems for internal and external dissemination;
- Undertake regular reviews of the data and information flow through the appropriate information system;
- Contribute to the production of information material;
- Contribute to the preparation and the organisation of meetings of the GFCM and regional statistical training programmes and related activities;
- Perform other related duties as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
|
- University Degree in Statistics, Fisheries Science or related subject with training in statistics
- Three years of relevant experience in statistics, web publishing, information management
- Working knowledge of English or French
|
SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
|
- Extent of experience in fisheries statistics
- Extent of experience in data processing and data management
- Extent of experience in software and tools related to web-publishing
- Relevance of academic qualification
- Extent of proficiency in the use of Information Technology tools
- Quality of drafting, presentation and communication skills
- Degree of creative thinking and content development skills

Please note that all candidates should possess computer/word processing skills and should be capable of working with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
* The length of appointment for internal FAO candidates will be established in accordance with applicable policies pertaining to the extension of appointments.
