FAO ECTAD Viet Nam co-chaired the Briefing on the International Influenza A(H7N9) Disease Situation and Vietnam's Prevention, Control and Preparedness Activities and Resource Mobilization Workshop with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), and WHO. The four partners that co-chaired the meeting also jointly released a statement demonstrating close collaboration and coordination between the animal and human health sectors within the One Health framework.
The FAO and WHO Viet Nam gave joint opening remarks on behalf of the UN Country team and a joint technical presentation highlighting current information known about influenza A(H7N9) in animals and humans. Presentations by both MARD and MOH mapped out priority areas for technical and financial assistance for Viet Nam’s H7N9 prevention and preparedness activities.
