where the land is greener - case studies and analysis of soil and water conservation initiatives worldwide

This book looks at soil and water conservation from a global perspective. Being a prototype for systematic documentation, evaluation and dissemination of sustainable land management knowledge it documents and provides detailed analysis for 42 soil and water conservation technologies and 28 approaches collected from different ecological zones and landscapes of more than 20 countries around the world. If also offers policy pointers for decision makers and donors who are challenged to invest further – to make the land greener.

UNEP (2006) says: “This book is very timely in view of current environmental concerns. The successful technologies and approaches, ... hold potential for replication in other environments with similar characteristics. Most importantly, responding to the MDGs on poverty reduction and environmental protection, the analytical section sheds light on policy options for implementation.”
