You will receive an automatic update every time a news story or a publication is published, no need for you to remember to visit the Web site to find out. You can easily scan the new content available and come visit only what you are interested in.

How to access and use RSS feeds

To use RSS on your computer you will need to use a program called a news reader (or aggregator), which allows you to collect and display RSS feeds from your selected Web sites.

There are many different types of news readers available. You can select one (Web-based or installed software from the this list of news readers.

You need to set your news reader to retrieve the RSS feeds from the FAO Web site, i.e. you need to subscribe to the ones you are interested in (see box on the right for the feeds available from FAO).

To do this you will need to copy the link to the feed you wish to subscribe to:

  • click on the RSS tag of the feed of your interest (e.g. or );
  • when the file is displayed, copy the URL/address of the file;
  • follow the instructions for your particular news reader to subscribe to the feed;
  • paste the URL/address of the file into your news reader

A RSS feed contains the title of the new content item, a link to it, and may contain a short description.
