Following the launch of the Global Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture (GACSA) on 23 September 2014 at the UN Secretary-General Climate Summit in New York, the emphasis has been to identify early actions of the Alliance and define the Governance structure, formulate Terms of Reference for the three Action Groups (AGs), and develop the work programme for the inception year. GACSA Members from the Caribbean, Asian and African regions present case studies to demonstrate that the CSA approach is both context-specific and knowledge-intensive.

This side event presents an action-oriented agenda on climate-smart agriculture practices for GACSA. The role of the three AGs on knowledge, enabling environment and investment will be addressed by the GACSA co-chairs, highlighting the importance of the synergies among all three AGs' Work Plans.
