International Day of Forests 2019: Forests and Education – Learn to Love Forests!, FAO headquarters Special Event

Sheikh Zayed Centre (FAO Headquarters)
21.03.2019
 Rome time

Providing children and young people with a foundation to better understand the vital role of forests is a critical step to safeguarding natural resources for future generations. Raising awareness among today’s children of the sustainable use and conservation of forests will encourage the young adults of tomorrow to make responsible decisions about the environment. This year’s celebration of the International Day of Forests, being held under the theme “Forests and education”, will raise awareness in communities and countries around the world, and particularly among young people, of the many contributions that forests make to food security and nutrition, biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and human wellbeing. The FAO special event, organized by the Forestry Department, will be held in the Sheikh Zayed Centre at headquarters on 21 March 2019 from 11.30 to 13.00 and will include presentations from forest educators and children’s representatives.
