Codex Alimentarius Commission 41st Session

CAC41 Side event: Food Integrity and Food Authenticity: a way forward (NGO panel discussion)

Plenary Hall (FAO Headquarters)
03.07.2018
 Rome time

Adulteration of food poses an increasing threat to food safety, quality and fair trade at international level.  While the subject frequently appears in the media, clear definitions of food integrity, food fraud and economically motivated adulteration are yet to be agreed upon at the international level. Codex is currently discussing the matter in its Committee on Import and Export Inspection and Certification Systems (CCFICS) thereby seeking inputs from all Members and Observers concerned. The second of two side events on the subject will give participants the opportunity to join the discussion and share their thoughts on how international standards can help to combat food fraud.
