COFO24 / WFW6 Side Event - Creating Synergies between Forestry and Social Protection

Evidence shows that combining social protection and forest policy instruments can help to conserve forests, while increasing the resilience of forest-dependent communities. The side-event aims to: facilitate knowledge sharing and a discussion on FAO’s work on establishing synergies between social protection and forestry; launch two new working papers: “A diagnostic on social protection needs and opportunities for forest-dependent communities in the United Republic of Tanzania” and “The role of forest producer organizations in social protection“; and discuss the way forward.
