A massive desert locust upsurge is underway in the Greater Horn of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and Southwest Asia, with the risk of it spreading to the Sahel region if it is not halted by July. To launch FAO’s revised desert locust appeal, a dedicated virtual briefing will be held to update on the gravity of the situation and solicit support for proposed actions that will be conducted under the updated response.
