6.1 Management of files/namingFile naming conventionPolicyEnsuring that your files are logically and comprehensively named is an important part of a successful Web site. For this purpose, the File naming convention for files manually uploaded to www.fao.org [internal] should be rigorously applied. In particular, the file name should have a descriptive name, encapsulating the key concepts of the document title. Further, the language of the document should be apparent both in the text used in the title. In order to keep the URL short, small connecting works (e.g. the, a, in) should be removed providing it does not significantly change the idea of the title. The words should be connected by a hyphen (-). All file names should be lower case. Remember... Keep the file names short and without spaces!Do not create too many folders if you are managing only a small number of files! |
