8.1 Launch checklistPolicyThe responsibility for approving new Web sites or new databases accessible through the Internet lies with OCE. Technical Departments are responsible for the content. See the FAO Web Quality Assurance Checklist for more details on this policy. Quality assurance before releaseGuidelineBefore release, ensure that your Web site has been thoroughly reviewed and is consistent with the FAO House Style and the FAO Web Quality Assurance Checklist. Editing and content consistencyEnsure you have consistent spelling, grammar and style throughout the entire Web site. Pages with no content should not be visible, never use the term ‘under construction’. TranslationsWeb sites should be available in at least three FAO languages. It is recommended however to publish Web sites in all six FAO languages as requested by Member Nations. If a page is not available in a given language, the English version should be made the default page. It is important to use official translations of key terms using FAOTERM. Remember... Use a professional translator! It is recommended that translations be carried out by professional translators and not by convenient native speakers! Clearance of Web sitesPolicyAll FAO Web sites are evaluated according to the FAO Web Quality Assurance Checklist before they are published. To request clearance of your Web site, see the procedure in section 2.3c Clearance of Web sites. |
