	9.1a Maintaining quality and accessibility Guideline Links Ensure internal and external links continue to work (use link checking software to automate this) and are up to date, e.g. e-mail addresses are correct and the copyright link uses the current year. If you have renamed, moved or deleted your Web pages, use URL redirection. A redirect prevents users from receiving an error (when they visit a page that no longer exists) by automatically transferring the user to another page. If you require your Web pages to be redirected, please contact OCP for assistance. Consistency and accessibility As new content is added to your site, ensure it is consistent with the design and editorial style used in existing pages. Standards in accessibility should also be maintained, see 1.3 An introduction to Web accessibility at FAO for more information. Traffic monitoring Keeping an eye on Web site statistics can help you understand what visitors do on your Web site and help indicate strengths and weaknesses. Where topics are found to be visited regularly, ways can be found to highlight them to users. Checking the search phrases people use to arrive at your site allows an understanding of what people are looking for. Most site monitoring tools are good at recording how often a given page is served, but not so strong at analyzing the paths (clicks) which make up a user's visit. To undertake the latter may require additional logging of user data or the use of special software - discuss with CIO. Language coverage As new information is added, it is important to maintain consistency across all the languages in which the site is published. Organize your content Over time, as Web sites develop and content expands, it is good practice to store relevant information in archives or in appropriate corporate repositories. Consider adding dynamic pages to areas of your site that require continual maintenance. Metadata As content on Web pages change, it is important to keep metadata up to date.
