Presenting SlideShare

SlideShare is the world's largest community for sharing presentations. With 60 million monthly visitors and 130 million pageviews, it is amongst the most visited 200 Web sites in the world.

The WebGuide can assist you in uploading your presentations to SlideShare.

After creating an account, individuals or organizations can upload and share PowerPoint, PDF, or OpenOffice presentations. It is also possible to synchronise MP3 audio files (podcasts)  to create a powerful way of distributing presentations/tutorials.

Users can link to presentations on the SlideShare site itself or they can embed presentations in a Web page or blog, the advantage of this is that it saves on bandwidth and speeds up download time. An example of an FAO Web page with an embedded presentation from SlideShare can be see at Commodity Markets Monitoring and Outlook for Bananas.

Tags and other metadata can be added to presentations, making SlideShare a tremendous resource for finding other presentations on a topic of interest.

It is also possible to share documents privately.

Facebook and Linked-In

SlideShare has a Facebook application for uploading documents and with a SlideShare account, it is also possible to import existing presentations into Facebook.

The advantage of Facebook is that it provides the potential for sharing presentations to a far wider audience and therefore provide more views or traffic.

SlideShare is also present on Linkedin and it is possible to synchronise both these accounts with SlideShare. Upload to any one- SlideShare, Facebook or LinkedIn and it will shows up instantly on all three.
