2.10 Current server structure at FAO

What is a server?

A server is a computer that handles requests for data, e-mail, file transfers and other network services from other computers (i.e. clients) that are linked to it through a network. Common servers are Web servers, proxy servers, mail servers, and file servers. At FAO, Web sites and other online material are stored in a number of Web servers.

Policy

At FAO the Chief Information Officer Division (CIO) manages and monitors the FAO servers that contain the Organization's digital material.

To request access to drives and folders on these servers (specifically test servers such as Faoint0b, which are used for storing and testing Web sites during their construction), please write to Web-Intranet-Updates@fao.org
