In acknowledgement of their commitment to the less fortunate, the Italian Singers’ Soccer Team (Nazionale Italiana Cantanti) was appointed as FAO Ambassadors on the occasion of World Food Day 2002.

The 21-year old team hosts some of the most famous Italian singers, who want to use their images as artists to promote solidarity in favour of the most needy.

The team has played numerous charity soccer games, such as the ten editions of the Partita del Cuore - of which FAO has been one of the beneficiaries – which have had a total audience of 80 million people and raised substantial funds.

"Playing football taught us the value of determination and team work,” the team’s spokesman said upon the appointment as Ambassadors. “We are happy doing anything that may help the underprivileged."
