The Second Global Plan of Action's monitoring framework

Overall progress in the implementation of the Second Global Plan of Action for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (Second Global Plan of Action) is monitored and guided by FAO Members through the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.

The agreed monitoring framework measures progress towards:

National Focal Points (NFP) from over 70 countries have so far applied the above monitoring framework. Reports included activities undertaken during 2012 – 2014, as well as information on the status of conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture as of June 2014.

The graph below shows the progress towards the Priority Activities and the three Targets at a glance. It is based on a qualitative expert judgement (NFP rating) on the level of achievement for each of the indicators. Ratings range from 1 to 8, with 1 representing the lowest and 8 representing the highest level of achievement.
