The agreed monitoring framework measures progress towards:

National Focal Points (NFP) from over 90 countries have so far applied the above monitoring framework. Reports included activities undertaken during 2012 – 2014 and 2014 – 2019, as well as information on the status of conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture as of June 2014 and December 2019.

The graph below shows the progress towards the Priority Activities and the three Targets at a glance. It is based on a qualitative expert judgement (NFP rating) on the level of achievement for each of the indicators. Ratings range from 1 to 8, with 1 representing the lowest and 8 representing the highest level of achievement.

More information is provided in the preliminary Assessment of the implementation of the Second Global Plan of Action for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture 2012-2014 and in the Background study paper no.67 Higher-order Composite Indices for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. Data for the period July 2014 – December 2019 will be published soon.
