World Food Day in Baku, Azerbaijan
The FAO office in Azerbaijan is organizing a high-level panel discussion in the Heydar Aliyev Center on 14 October to mark WFD celebrations. FAO National Goodwill Ambassador and Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, will participate in the event with the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and the FAO Representative in Azerbaijan. Over 150 high-level representatives of government agencies, Academia, Research Institutions and the Diplomatic Corp have been invited to attend.
The panel discussion will address the impact of climate change on food security and smallholder agriculture in the country. It aims to identify challenges faced by the state, civil society and other relevant stakeholders in combating the adverse effects of climate change on agriculture, and to explore the benefits of climate adaptation and mitigation approaches. The panel will also discuss related policies, lessons learned, best practices and identify opportunities and points of entry for greater collaboration with FAO and other key stakeholders.
